Lanczos resampling uses a wider windowed sinc kernel, weighing more neighbouring pixels and preserving edge contrast far better — which is why it is the default choice when you want to enhance image quality to 4K free without that plastic, over-smoothed look. The trade-off is a little more computation and, on very high-contrast edges, faint ringing.

Sharpening and noise handling

Interpolation alone always loses a little acutance, so a second pass is needed to sharpen a blurry photo online free.
